May - June 2005 Fishing report

Summertime's Action is the Best

May’s fishing found the flats turning on a bit later than normal . Redfish and seatrout were the hot items on the flats.
Topwater skitter walkers gave us great action on Seatrout. Huge high tides gave us plenty of water to stalk redfish
on the flats. For them I used live shrimp under a popping cork. Noteable catches included a 25” seatrout and a 30” redfish.
For June I began working offshore. Kingfish were the main target. Water temps remained cooler than normal due to an
early arrival of our rainy season. Lately I have been targeting permit on the reefs. The action has been exceptional on
many species including shark , tuna , barracuda , grouper , snapper . Noteable offshore catches have been 8lb Gag grouper,
20lb Permit , and a 30lb. Cobia . Look for offshore fishing to remain good. Inshore pompano , snook , tarpon , and redfish
will be the main focus.
See you on the water
