Winter Fishing

Winter temps closed in fast around Christmas. Fishing became a distant memory as dreams of sugar plums danced in our heads.. Now that the New year lays ahead and with more normal tempertures fishing will pick back up. Seatrout season opens Jan 1st. and trout will respond well to jigs and shrimp worked slow on the flats. Sheephead and Redfish will also be found on the flats and under docks. I have made several trips on the Myakka River mostly besting Largemouth Bass on rapalas.It’s a very scenic trip. Every bend unvails a new vista with lots of water birds, alligators, and sometimes wild boars and turkeys. I now have an ulta light set up for bass and crappie. I am currently running two trips. The bay and intra - coastal trip for saltwater species or a float on the Myakka River for Bass, Crappie, Snook, and possibly Tarpon.
